Though many suppose that
segregation ended with the dismantling of Jim Crow laws during the Civil
Rights movement, the facts paint an entirely different picture.
Today Africa-Americans are arrested and sentenced at far higher rates
for crimes they are no more likely to commit than their white counter
parts.
Once in the penal system they are disenfranchised in ways
that strongly resemble, Jim Crow style segregation, The Black Codes and
even outright slavery.
At this week's UVU RSU meeting find out how segregation, though dismantled in name, is alive and well in America.
